Ouachita's School of Fine Arts announces adjusted spring events

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts has adjusted its Spring 2021 events, including concerts, theatre productions and art galleries, to allow students to continue their performance education as well as provide safe viewing for audiences following COVID-19 guidelines from the Arkansas Department of Health and Ouachita’s Health Monitoring and Action Team.

Bayless to present senior voice recital at Ouachita Oct. 30

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Katelyn Bayless in her senior voice recital on Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Seating in the hall is limited to current students, faculty and staff due to COVID-19; the recital also will be available via www.livestream.com/obu.

Ouachita to host guest percussionist Caitlin Jones in recital featuring world premiere Oct. 28

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host percussionist Caitlin Jones in a solo guest artist recital on Wed., Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. in Ouachita’s McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center. Seating in the hall is limited to current students, faculty and staff due to COVID-19, but the performance also will be available at www.livestream.com/obu.

Ouachita's fall concerts and theatre productions available online

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts has made adjustments to its fall concert and theatre season to both allow students to continue their performance education and allow viewers to experience their art safely amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music and Vocal Studies Program will host professional singer and actor Robert Edwin for a lecture and performance on Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Ouachita’s McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center. The event is part of Ouachita’s Birkett Williams Endowed Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host the 22nd annual Mary Shambarger Competition for Singers on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. This event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in McBeth Recital Hall located in Mabee Fine Arts Center on Ouachita’s campus.

Ouachita to host 14th annual McBeth Concerto Competition Dec. 6

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host the 14th annual W.
